Tahoe High Country: What You Get—and What Still Costs Extra
See 2027 Tahoe High Country prices, standard luxury features and optional upgrades, plus when Premier or Z71 may better fit your needs.
The Tahoe High Country makes sense when you want the luxury cabin, head-up display, Rear Camera Mirror and distinctive trim—not simply heated leather seats or a larger engine. Premier already covers several major comfort features, and it offers the same 6.2-liter V8 as an option.
This guide covers the U.S.-market 2027 model, with pricing checked October 8, 2026. For the rest of the lineup, see our Chevy Tahoe trim-level comparison.
Price: distinguish the diesel from the V8
Chevrolet’s 2027 configurator lists High Country as 4WD only, with two engine choices:
| High Country configuration | Displayed starting price |
|---|---|
| 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel, 4WD | $85,795 |
| 6.2-liter V8, 4WD | $87,295 |
Those are the engine-specific “From” prices in Chevrolet’s configurator, before additional options. Don’t read the trim’s lowest displayed price as the V8 price.
Chevrolet’s model page advertises High Country at $84,500 alongside its 6.2-liter V8 equipment listing. A 2027 V8 High Country factory window sticker shows how that relates to the configurator’s V8 price: $84,500 standard vehicle price plus $2,795 destination equals $87,295. Taxes, registration and any dealer charges still need to be considered separately.
What High Country includes
The useful equipment is a mix of cabin comfort, visibility technology and suspension hardware. The same factory window sticker identifies these as standard equipment on the V8 vehicle:
- Magnetic Ride Control adaptive damping.
- 15-inch head-up display and Rear Camera Mirror.
- Heated and ventilated front power bucket seats with perforated leather seating surfaces.
- Heated second-row bucket seats with power release.
- Power-folding 60/40 third-row bench—a seven-seat layout with the second-row buckets.
- 10-speaker Bose audio, a 17.7-inch touchscreen and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility.
- 22-inch wheels, adaptive cruise control and HD Surround Vision.
Chevrolet also specifies a unique grille, sill plates, stitching, badging and real wood décor for High Country. Those details are part of what you are buying over a less expensive configuration; they do not add passenger positions or make it an off-road specialist. If you need eight seats, the standard second-row buckets are a reason to check other trims before shopping High Country.
The standard gasoline engine is the 6.2-liter V8 producing 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic. The diesel is an alternative powertrain, not an additional luxury-equipment tier. Chevrolet lists both choices on its 2027 Tahoe page.
High Country is not automatically fully loaded
Three tempting upgrades remain optional:
Four-Corner Air Ride Adaptive Suspension. Magnetic Ride Control is standard, but air suspension is available separately. They are different systems: Magnetic Ride Control varies damping, while Air Ride uses air springs and provides ride-height adjustment and automatic load leveling. Chevrolet distinguishes their availability on the model page; the vehicle equipment description explains their functions.
Super Cruise. Hands-free driver assistance is available, not included merely because the tailgate says High Country. It works on compatible roads and requires an active plan or trial; the driver must remain attentive. Check your normal routes before making it a must-have. Chevrolet explains the operating requirements.
24-inch wheels. These are an available appearance upgrade rather than standard equipment. If comfort is the priority, test-drive the actual wheel-and-suspension combination you intend to buy instead of assuming the largest wheels are the best choice. Chevrolet lists the optional wheels.
Package totals can move the purchase into a different budget. The cited V8 sticker combines High Country Deluxe, Super Cruise, Air Ride, a panoramic sunroof, power-retractable steps, Max Trailering equipment, paint and liners. Its total vehicle price is $96,080, including destination and after a $500 package discount. That is one documented build, not the price of every High Country. Factory sticker.
High Country, Premier or Z71?
Compare Premier first if comfort is your main reason to upgrade. Chevrolet lists heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row buckets and the Bose system on Premier, with Super Cruise available. Premier can also be ordered with the 6.2-liter V8. Price both vehicles with the same engine, drivetrain and must-have options; a base Premier versus an optioned High Country is not a fair comparison. Chevrolet’s trim and engine listings.
Choose High Country when its visibility features and cabin treatment matter enough to pay for them. The head-up display, camera mirror, wood décor and distinctive finish give it a clearer purpose than simply being “the best Tahoe.”
Compare Z71 for regular trail use. Its high-approach-angle front fascia, skid plate, recovery hooks, all-terrain tires and two-speed transfer case address that task more directly. High Country’s luxury positioning is not a substitute for those features. Chevrolet’s Z71 equipment.
Before buying, inspect the VIN-specific window sticker for the engine, seat layout, suspension, Super Cruise and trailering packages. For a used High Country, repeat that check against its own model year—do not apply these 2027 prices or drivetrain rules to an older vehicle.
