These are Subaru’s U.S. prices as of September 2026. The last column includes the standard $1,450 destination charge but excludes options, taxes and registration. Subaru says destination may vary in Connecticut, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont; it is $1,600 in Alaska. Subaru identifies seven configurations because Premium and Limited each have separate seven- and eight-passenger versions. Functionally, there are five trim levels.
Every 2026 Ascent uses the same 260-horsepower, 2.4-liter turbocharged engine, continuously variable transmission and all-wheel-drive system. Every trim also has 8.7 inches of ground clearance and a listed maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds.
Subaru promotes towing with an available accessory Class III hitch, and its specifications caution that trailer brakes may be needed. Buyers should confirm the complete hitch, wiring and trailer setup rather than relying on the trim-level rating alone.
Premium is EPA-rated at 19 mpg city and 26 mpg highway. The trims with 20-inch wheels are rated at 19/25 mpg. Subaru’s official comparison confirms that paying for a higher trim does not add horsepower, ground clearance or maximum rated towing capacity.
Premium Delivers The Strongest Value
Premium is not a bare entry model. It includes:

The standard driver-assistance equipment includes EyeSight, adaptive cruise control with lane centering, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, reverse automatic braking and automatic emergency steering. The official Subaru trim chart shows those features on every trim.
Premium is the sensible choice if you do not need a panoramic moonroof, leather, built-in navigation, premium audio or a 360-degree camera. Its smaller wheels also produce the lineup’s best highway fuel-economy rating.
Without a panoramic moonroof, Premium has 153.2 cubic feet of passenger volume and 75.6 cubic feet of maximum cargo volume. The upper trims have 150.2 cubic feet of passenger volume and 72.8 cubic feet of maximum cargo space.
Best for: Value-focused families, buyers who prefer easy-clean upholstery and anyone who needs eight seats without paying for Limited.
Limited Is The Major Equipment Upgrade
Limited costs $7,090 more than Premium before destination. The increase is substantial, but it adds most of the equipment that materially changes everyday use:

The value case depends on how often you will use the camera, moonroof, memory settings and upgraded audio. If those features are priorities, Limited is the lineup’s meaningful equipment threshold. If they are not, the $7,090 increase is difficult to justify because performance and maximum towing capacity remain unchanged.
Best for: Buyers who want eight seats with premium equipment or consider a 360-degree camera essential in a large family SUV.
Limited Bronze Edition Changes The Design
Limited Bronze Edition is a seven-passenger Limited with bronze 20-inch wheels and matching exterior and cabin accents. It replaces Limited’s leather with black StarTex upholstery featuring bronze stitching but retains the Limited equipment set, including the panoramic moonroof, premium audio and Surround View Monitor.
The $1,110 premium over an ordinary Limited makes sense only if you specifically prefer its appearance or want StarTex rather than leather. It adds no power, towing capacity or ground clearance.
Best for: Buyers who want Limited technology with StarTex upholstery and distinctive bronze trim.
Touring Adds Ventilation And A Camera Mirror
Touring costs $3,280 more than Limited and is restricted to seven-passenger seating. Its main functional additions are:

- Upgraded interior trim
The smart mirror can help when passengers or cargo block the normal rearward view. Ventilated seats are the other strong reason to choose Touring. Limited already includes the panoramic moonroof, navigation, premium audio, 360-degree camera and heated second row.
Best for: Seven-passenger buyers who will regularly use ventilated front seats or the camera-based rearview mirror.
Onyx Edition Touring Is An Appearance Upgrade
Onyx Edition Touring costs $830 more than Touring. It retains Touring’s Nappa leather and comfort equipment but substitutes black 20-inch wheels, black exterior accents, black badging and green steering-wheel stitching.
This is not the former standalone Onyx Edition. Subaru discontinued that trim for 2026 and moved black accents and StarTex upholstery to Premium. The remaining Onyx Edition Touring is the flagship appearance treatment, not a capability upgrade, as detailed in Subaru’s model-year announcement.
Best for: Buyers already committed to Touring who prefer blacked-out styling enough to pay $830 more.
Premium, Limited And Touring Are The Key Choices
Choose Premium unless a specific Limited feature solves a real need. It has the shared powertrain, maximum towing rating, core driver-assistance technology and a choice of seven or eight seats at the lowest price.
Choose Limited when the 360-degree camera, panoramic roof, rear-seat heating, premium audio and memory seat collectively justify the $7,090 jump. It is also the clear choice for a fully equipped eight-passenger Ascent.
Choose Touring when ventilated front seats or the smart rearview mirror matter enough to justify another $3,280 over Limited. Limited Bronze Edition and Onyx Edition Touring are primarily styling choices rather than better-performing Ascents.
